Rieber & Søn Denmark

Rieber & Søn Denmark comprises the brands K-Salat and Bähncke, with operations in both the Swedish and the Danish market.

The Denja and Vossafår brands, which previously were part of the Danish business, were integrated with Rieber & Søn Norway effective from 1 January 2010.

In the course of the year the Danish business unit succeeded in implementing a turnaround to improve profitability. The termination of the chilled ready meal category in order to focus on the core business made an important contribution to this process, along with cost cutbacks and greater operational efficiency. In the second half of the year the “Future production” project was extended to include the Danish plants in Skælskør and Havnsø. Further improvement potential has been identified in addition to higher efficiency that was achieved throughout 2009.

The salad market remained steady, while at trading level the low price chains recorded a positive trend in 2009. The aggressive stance taken by the Danish business in relation to the chains showed good results, and the Bähncke brand developed well and broadened its product portfolio.

The Danish business made good progress in terms of sales and the overall performance in 2009.
